Hi. I searched the forum for the info on what mics and preamps were used to record solo strings and below is the discussion i came uppon.
CM suggested two links that apparently have some info on the mics. When I click on the links they bring me to an empty page.
1. Can someone direct me to the right place or let me know what mics and preamps were used to record solo strings?
I'm mixing VI Solo Strings with live recorded solo strings and would like to make live strings sound closer to VI. I have tried many mics, some of which are quite expansive but still it sounds too different. I know that there are many components that make the sound like the room, AD converters, instrumment, player, player's mood e .t.c. but knowing the mics/preamp combo would be very helpful.

In reply to yeah, I for one would like to know the type, position, and proximity of every mic used on each instrument. And where the instrument sat in teh room too.
