Download Product seems so slowwwww to download …

laurent, our server's line has currently a limit of 100Mbit/s and the load is oscillating between 5 and 15 Mbit/s.
the server itself runs with a load of 5-7% CPU and i'm getting 430 KByte/s here currently (which is close to the edge for a 4Mbit line).
please make sure your firewall is healthy and you don't use a proxy - i can't imagine the problem is on this side of the connection.

cm, I have no proxy, I even use (for macintosh) igetter to allow many simultaneous connections. For every file I can't get more than 14k to 20k. Am I the only one ? Are you getting 430 KByte or 430Ko ? if your getting 430 Kb, it means 54 Ko, and those days in 2007 that's kind of slow when you want to download a big amount of samples. " our server's line has currently a limit of 100Mbit/s and the load is oscillating between 5 and 15 Mbit/s." Why are you getting only 0.430 Mbit/s ? I don't want to make some critics about your new system, but as it should be very economic for your to offer only a download option (you bypass the DVD production, design, shops, shares, shipping) it would be fair on the other hand that the customer could download at a high speed, like 1or 2 Mo/s (8Mbits/s).

laurent, 430 KByte/s = 430 x 8 = 3.440 kbit/s = 3,44 Mbit/s ... this means 1 MB in 2 1/2 seconds
the missing 0,56 Mbit/s to the 4Mbit line is overhead and other traffic ....
i personally would just click on one download button and allow the full bandwidth to a single download - concurrent connections can be tricky.
don't you get more then? christian

cm 11ko/s means 11 kilo octets per seconds I used this because many of us get confuse with KByte/s and kbit/s 11 ko/s is the same as 11 KB. But you're right I'll now use KB/s. So on almost any other site other than VSL I have a sustainable download speed at about 160KB/sec, hope I will find an issue because not being able to get the Soprano choir in 8 hours is not very normal.

laurent, with the help of our upstream provider we found the following issue:
the route from us to you goes via frankfurt (global crossing or cogento)
to paris (france telecom) to Aubervilliers and as soon as we enter the
IP backbone of the france telecom the latency increases significantly.
the routing is now slightly changed and you should notice a lttle increase,
however the problem has to be fixed within the france telecom net.
if of any interest email me your routing table (network utility, traceroute to vsl.co.at) because by design of the internet the route from and to a host is in most cases not the same
