    Are the samples in the Horizon Solo Strings library 24 bit samples?

    If not, what VSL product should I consider if I am interested in 24 bit solo string samples?

    All Horizon products are 16 Bit.

    All Vienna Instruments products are 24 Bit,  so Vienna Instruments Solo Strings  should be perfect for you.

     Will the Vienna Instruments Solo Strings library work with W2K or does it require WXP?

    works flawlessly with W2K, though i'd recommend SP4 (service pack 4) and you should avoid to have the giga-tweaks applied (mainly the memory managemnt tweaks) - that's something VI does not like

    Thanks for your answer. Let me be clear on this because I initially started the thread with questions about Horizon Solo Strings (which are 16 bit) and I am now interested in the Vienna Instruments Solo Strings (which are 24 bit).

       The Vienna Instruments Solo Strings (24 bit) works on a W2k platform. Right?

    Do the Vienna Instruments Solo Strings library (the 24 bit library) work on a W2k platform? (Not the Horizon solo strings 16 bit.)

    Anyone doing this combination? I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on this.

     Thanks PolarBear. The link you provided is from an earlier post of mine and I want to clear up the confusion because I started that previous post by asking about Horizon solo strings.

       Do you know from experience that VI Solo strings works with W2K?

     I am sorry to sound redundant, but I want to be clear about this.

    my comment was a direct reply to your question and both referred to the Vienna Instruments (VI) version - at least that is how i understood it.

    the horizon series solo strings cannot be used with a Vienna Instruments player - they need a sample player supporting the available formats.

    besides it is a real mess meanwhile to setup W2K (trillions of updates) to me a W2K system even feels slightly more *responsive* than XP - the internal versioning (W2K = NT5.0, XP = NT5.1) makes clear how close they are
