  • repetitions without performance tool using gigastudio files

I use a custom music editor / sample playback engine with Pro Edition gig files that can automate pretty much all of the painful stuff (much like the VI do, I assume). One thing I don't do, though, is do anything special with repeated notes.

From reading various threads here, I'm guessing the Performance Tool's reptition stuff works a bit like Acid's timestretching: it takes a sample with repetitions in it, and crossfades between different points in it when you trigger each new note.

I'd like to hook something like this up--I can do this in a much friendlier way than the performance tool (I assume, I've never installed it) since it's a music editor so it can look into the "future" to know how many times the repeat is played automatically.

So what I want to know is, is there any data in the gigastudio files that indicates where the sample start for each repetition is? Or maybe in some external file used by the performance tool? It'd seems it'd be pretty inaccurate to estimate from the tempo.

I just really don't want to have to go mark up every sample by hand, since presumably somebody at VSL already did, somewhere.
