  • Anybody using Touch Screen/Digitizers?

    Hi

    I'm looking into Wacoms digitizers (Cintiq21 and PL-720) because I'm a very score oriented guy and it would be great

    to be able to just write nodes into the score directly on the screen.

    However these things are expensive and I have no idea if they would work proberly in this context - I mean work, not just be a fancy toy.

    Is there anybody out there using these?? - Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    txh

  • I would love a touch screen display .. be terrific for editing anything .. midi .. audio .. score. Moving things around by dragging it with your finger .. I'd pay for that. Also being able to move things around on the mix console. But I'll have to wait until they come way down in price.

  • I wen't to a demonstration of really cool toy - a configurable controller with multitouch capability. You could

    control up to 8 screen elements at the same time. eg. move 8 mixer fades independently at one time or do a surround mix

    using 8 position balls

     - very cool, but it was a machine of its own with a screen, not a reguar computer screen - it did'nt display

    the computer program screen, so you could'nt write notes in a score.

    Can't remember what the name was, Dexter or something....?

  • I've thought about getting a Lemur, 'cos it looks great, but I still prefer a proper controller and keyswitches, simply because I don't have to look at what I'm doing with those. I can't see how a touch screen can be more efficient than my current setup.

    Personally I was impressed by the way you could shape say filters - using your fingers to directly manipulate the filtercurve itself.

    But again for my score writing purpose, the Lemur and Dexter is'nt suitable.
