    Hi,

    I search for a compressor plugin or hardware. I just wondered if one compressor plugin or HW could be applied to different instruments (as Opus1 Percussions by exemple) and on a general mix ?
    I thnik the Waves plugins are good, but are there good plugins less expensive ?

    I went to the webiste you gave me and I saw interesting plugins but they run on Windows and I work on Mac.
    I think I'll wait for having money enough to purchase Waves or hardware compressor.
    I'll try to do do my musics with plugins given with differents softwares I use.

    Yes why not.
    I heard good things about their UAD-1 card. I'll have to contact them to check if the card is Intel compatible. But it's a good option. I'll see it with the next money "coming" [:D]
    If I understand well, I need to have the UAD-1 card to use the different plug-ins on their website.

    The simulations of both the 1176LN and LA2A can be used like their "real" counterparts, if you ask me. Purists will still tell you that there's a difference, but although I'm convinced they are right, both plugins are true to the originals to an extent that is almost frightening. This is also true for their (small) shortcomings. The 1176 is my first choice for percussive material, while the LA2A is great on everything melodic/solistic (namely vocals). - This is by no means a dogma, just an example for typical applications.

    The Fairchilds are great for sensible material like strings, but here I don't have the direct comparison to the legendary original.

    I also use the Precision Limiter sparingly. For Multiband-dynamics I still prefer other processors, though.

    ... another very impressive (and very special) dynamics processor is Sony's Inflator, which is available for both TDM- and PowerCore-based systems.

    I say go for hardware only, invest in the best comp you can afford, you'll never regret it. I have all the good comp plug in my Protools HD but I rarely use them, because many of them took me long time to get a good sound, with hardware, it's just matter of seconds
    Comp plugins does not cut it, with Dance, R&B, plugins maybe ok but orchestra? you need some serious analog compressors.

    I suggest you to get a SSL xrack fill with 8 SSL comp, cost you about 7-8K but well worth it, plus, it's there so you can resell it, no update, no dongle key and no stress up CPU, most importantly, sounds great
