Upgrading strings Ggia vs VI

I apologize for not searching the forums for a topic that I'm sure has been covered extensively. However, I don't know how to search this forum because I just don't see well enough to read fast.
I have Horizon Series Opus 1&2 in Giga format. I need more string articulations that are not in the Opus 1 and 2 packages. I can't decide whether to upgrade to VI or to complete my Giga package. I have a separate Ggiga computer that I don't want to see become a paperweight. My primary DAW, which runs SONAR 5 PE, has a lot of VSTs already on it:
Stylus RMX
Ivory
Kontakt 2
Pluggo Soundbox etc and since it is my recording computer, I don't want to overload the hard drive with more samples than I really need.
Does anyone have experience running VI on a separate machine using V-Stack, or some other VST wrapping application that I can use in order not to clutter my main DAW computer?

I suggest to go for the Vienna Instruments, simply because that´s the platform of the future. And as your Vienna Instruments library will grow, here is my suggestion: Get a side license for your (rather small) OPUS 1&2 for Kontakt2 (this way you have scripted programs and don´t have to use an additional Performance Tool) and use Kontakt2 in your VST-wrapper next to your new Vienna Instruments collections.

The reason for this suggestion is that the Vienna Instruments run best under Win XP SP2 basic settings - no tweaks necessary! Whereas GigaStudio needs a few adaptations and tweaks for best performance which unfortunately are counterproductive for the performance of the Vienna Instruments.

There are quite a few VST hosts available:

Steinberg´s VSTack, you mentioned that one already

Forte from www.brainspawn.com, the only VST wrapper that is officially Large Adress Aware (LAA), which means that you can load up to 3 GB into your RAM (if available and with some minor additional adatptation)

Basically I´d say, that the less programs you have running on one machine, the more reliable the performance , especially with audio apps....
