  • Anyone up for testing a new VI-related app?

    Hey Folks,

I've just finished a first build (well, 4th "internal" build) of a new VI keyswitching app that I've created for the Mac. A Windows one could come in the near future, but I want to get it ironed-out for the Mac first, and make sure it's all good. What I need are a couple of beta testers willing to kick it around for a few days. Anyone interested can just PM me.

The app is called, appropriately enough, "VI KeySwitcher". It works as a standalone, or a plugin in Logic Pro, and enables the selection of complex keyswitches by clicking a single, _named_, button. Okay, so the whole idea of a keyswtich is that you push one key... However, with the VI KeySwitcher you get a named patch (so you don't always have to remember all your keyswitches), and you immediately trigger 4 keyswitches with a single click. The installer comes with a demo patch and set of matrix files for an Extended Solo Violin. The patch uses keyswitches for 8 Matrices, 8 Horizontal dimensions, 2 Vertical dimensions, and the A/B switch. So, by clicking one name, say "dim_Vib_3s", you switch the Matrix, Horizontal dimension, Vertical dimension, and A/B switch, all in one go! When you're working in Logic's Matrix Edit window it makes life reeeeally easy!

It does require that your VI patches/matrices be controlled primarily by keyswitches, but the interface helps make building new patches really simple, as you can use the same basic setup for every new instrument, and it shows you the keyswitches required by an articulation each time you click on that articulation's name.

There are builds for PPC and Intel, so any current system should be able to run it.

Hope to hear from some eager Mac users soon.

    cheers,

    J.

  • PC user I'm afraid. But where you get around to do a PC buildI would love to try it.

    Cheers

  • Hello All,

Thanks for all the replies! Actually, I'm going to have to narrow it down to 2 or 3 people, but I'll certainly let everyone know when it's ready for the bigger public.

    cheers,

    J.

  • when this gets released to the public, will it be free to download? When do you think a PC version will be released?
