  • Another question about opus1 and Gigastudio

    Hey guys,

I'm ordering opus1, but when I looked for Gigastudio, I saw that there are three different versions you can buy: SOLO, ENSEMBLE and ORCHESTRA and I was wandering if you could give me any advice?

I'm a student and I have to keep an eye on my budget, but I also want to have full use of Opus1.

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

  • Mark,

The main difference is the number of channels you can have. I have Orchestra which has 8 lots of 16. Ensemble has 4 lots of 16 and Solo I believe has 2 lots of 16.

Of course the number of channels you can run at the same time depends on the CPU speed and the amount of RAM you have.

I would suspect as a student and beginner that Ensemble would be fine. You need to check on the TASCAM website what the feature set with each version is. I'me sure with the ensemble you get the "GigaPiano2" but don't think you get "Gigapulse" I'm also not sure you get the fee VLS Symphony samples with Ensemble.

As I say best thing is to check the TASCAM site for exactly what you get with each version.

  • Please also look into a recent discussion here that covered this, too:

  • Also don't forget that as a student you might qualify for academic pricing.

I don't know where you live, but I've seen academic pricings for GS3 (all 3 versions as well as sidelicences) being offered by shops in both the US and the UK.

    Cheers

  • as a teacher i got discount - and grateful for it. As a result I was able to afford French Oboe!
