I recieved Opus 1 a while ago, and I love it. The samples sound so real. Is there a difference between Opus 1 and PE Orchestral Cube besides the instruments and articulations? For instance, will my brass, woodwinds, and strings sound more realistic then they do with Opus 1? Or is it just more instruments and articulations to add onto your list, because I was looking at the articulation list for PE, and I saw a lot of stuff I don't think I would use, so if it doesnt really change the sound, I'm not sure I want to upgrade (right now at least). Any help would be appreciated.

Opus 1 vs. Pro Edition

There is slightly more in the PE, PLUS, twice as many notes were sampled. OPUS 1 is in whole tones.

The tone would not change drastically when updating to PE. The more realism you can gather from an upgrade is the greater choice of articulations. A good update for Opus 1 regarding strings is adding Chamber Strings or Solo Strings and layering those with the ensemble strings IMO. That will give you another timbre plus a few more options but will not necessarily broaden the choice of articulations within normal strings arrangements.
Hope this helps,

That is correct. I agree with Polar on this. Eventually, VSL will add more strings to their arsenal I would imagine, particularly in the higher registers (and do good business), but until then, I concur with PolarBear.

Hi
I don´t own VSL instruments yet and I am planning a purchase of one of the lybraries available. It seems to me that an advantage of VSL is the " quality of sound" and the realism obtained in the performance. Regarding your post, does Opus contain the performance tool? Is the PT contained in the Orchestral Cube?
-
Yes, Opus 1 contains the Performance Tool.
Maybe there is an arrangement for upgrading from Opus 1 to a larger set, I'm not sure. If so, start out with Opus 1. It is really a great and complete library for what it costs.
Cheers,
Peter

PS: I know it's nonsense, but I'd like to see a Chamber Strings Opus 1 [;)]

Interesting page and certainly a good initiative!
But, if I check my Opus 1 as registered product, there is hardly any discount to be found at all, only for the big full set, not for subsets.

Yep Peter, that's the way it is, up only to full Pro Edition... but doesn't "Opus 1" imply we got to wait a bit after the symphonic cube release like we had to for Opus 1 almost a year after Pro Edition release? [;)]
I think [though *not* sure!] they got something "more adequate" for us Opus 1 users in the future.

I'm considering buying Opus 1 tomorrow at my local Long and McQuade and I'm wondering something- will Opus 1 work on Gigastudio 3??? Or should I play it safe and get it for Kontakt instead?
