X-sample has a kazoo. No perf-leg of course. [;)]

Is this a transposing kazoo, James?
I'm not sure, I've never really had a use for it, but i'm pretty sure you can play a melody on it (which I would imagine is what you mean [[:D]] ).
Its on the percussion cd, which is a good buy. Some unusual percussion, as opposed to the bread and butter stock. Cheap too.
Some of the first libraries I ever got! [[:D]]
<EDIT> http://www.soundsonline.com/sophtml/details.phtml?sku=BS-279
The demo mp3 has a good little example of the kazoo near the end.

William,
I am NOT interested in the Bass flute before a Bb Trumpet or Cornet. While we are pushing ideals on to each other by using HUGE FKN TEXT.

Dude, we get that you like the bass flute. The problem is, I've never actually seen it used in any ensemble I've ever played in or seen, Julie [:)]
I've just read all this thread for the first time.
Dude!!!?? Well, that made me splutter in my brandy and ruin a perfectly serviceable tweed jacket make no mistake. Dude!!!?? Whatever next! I'll go to the foot of our stairs!
This is a private vote on an instrument selction that Herb has simply posted. Not a fkn war! What on earth has age got to do with this thread? I'm a thirteenth century reincarnated monk from Shrewsbury if that's any good to you!
You've never seen a bass flute? Well I've never seen an elephant fly! Thats from Dumbo btw. Listen to the Ipcress File!
Lets just everyone calm down and get on with the vote.

Where is this coming from? I have no idea what the heck you are talking about in this post... I'm sorry my use of the word 'dude' has offended you so, that's a word I use all the time, and didn't mean anything by it. I was asking people's age to get an idea where they were in their professional life, didn't mean anything by that either. Very touchy people on this forum!! Very touchy indeed!!

Hey, how about a serpent complete with off-notes and strangled squawks? I don't think anyone's done this instrument. Sure, it doesn't have a huge repertoire, but what a terrifying sound - Bernard Herrmann used it, Jerry Goldsmith too in Alien.
Also, if anybody wants a free giga-sample of a bass flute they should go to the Northern Sounds Sample Libraries forum and do a search because Michiel Post put up a free library. The samples (recorded by Iowa University) are very short (a couple of seconds) but they give a fantastic taste of its texture. I'm sure a VSL version would be amazing.
BUT I'm still backing a contrabass clarinet first as if my life depended on it!

Of course you didn't. Since I have a 30 second window, and have tried humour, which obviously failed, allow me to retort.
It's just a wild guess, but I would doubt if the boss of a company would be overly impressed if someone started a straw poll on people's ages in the middle of his slightly more important poll on which instruments they would like to see intoduced, and any ensuing discussion. I could be wrong of course. Do not come back to me on this. I no longer have the time and inclination to discuss it.
Good Afternoon

Matt, this list is only for potential upcoming recordings and not for already finished recordings. [[;)]]
best Herb
[:D] So what about
...Harpsichord(s)
...Small (Baroque-)Organ > Basso Continuo
...Lute
...Mandolin
...Choir
or
...jazzy Trumpet(s)
...jazzy Trombone(s)
That's my wish-list.
(What on earth shall I do with a bassflute? [:D] )

Looks like the BASS FLUTE is doing pretty well.
Remember - your vote counts!
Mancini would vote for it.
What's your decision?
John Barry would vote for it.
How do you feel?
All of the greatest composers in the history of film and television scoring would vote for it.
What do you think?
Bass flute is the most beautiful and unique sound of the entire flute family, and yet is almost completely unavailable in live or sampled performance. So just how important is it that the greatest sampling company do this fabulous instrument? Crucial. Vital. ESSENTIAL.
Yes, the VSL BASS FLUTE is something every composer worth his salt will want to own.
