  • looped instruments on supplemental DVD for 1st edition users

Does anyone know if loop patches will be offered on the free upgrade DVD that VSL is planning on offeringto first edition users? While I'm asking, does anyone know exactly what will be included on this upgrade DVD? New instruments, new art files, what? Also, is there a release date yet?

    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Besides loops, my vote is in for a solo violin. There are so many places that I'm longing to put it - but have to either pull one out of another sound library (not my first choice) or wait who knows how long until I can afford the Pro edition, unless they put it on the bonus DVD for those of us First Edition people.

Can't wait to see what will be offered. Whatever it is, it will certainly be appreciated!

  • At one point, I think Herb mentioned offering all the solo strings as a seperate purchase once they are completed (in a couple months?). So you wouldn't have to buy the whole Pro edition if you didn't want to. Don't hold me to it though.

  • If I had a vote, I'd go for JUST the solo violin in the free update. I am always looking to make the strings more real. Doubling legato string lines with a 'real' solo violin always serves me well. It would be fantastic to not have to hire a violinist everytime. Without the solo violin double I don't think ANYONE'S strings can match up to the real thing. Herb's demo of the strings + solo violin is the closest thing I have heard to date.

I am in the same boat. It will take me a while to 'recover' from the First Edition and the additional computer that I needed (wish I had yet a third puter). So, to grovel one more time - bring on the solo violin in the free updates. [:D]

  • One other thing I am longing for - the bell tree or some sort of wind chime! I'm still using the wind chimes on my Roland Orchestra card - can't replace that yet because I NEED that sound. Guess I can't go completely software sound driven yet...

  • I'll post a first content overview for the free update DVD next weekend.

  • Hey Herb,

I thought you were on vacation? Well, for selfish reasons and this news about the updates, I am glad to see you're back. If you slip in solo Vln to the updates I will name my next child Herb!!!!! Loved your demo of solo + 14 vlns - really made your strings more expressive and real.

  • Just give me a legato oboe with vibrato, anything else is a nice bonus. [;)]

I agree the solo violin would be nice, no need to put all the patches on there. Could serve as a nice teaser for first edition owners. [:D]

  • Jean,

There is a GOOD idea - give us the solo violin with just a few of the patches. Herb?

    Rob

  • Yes some solo violin stuff would be fantastic! My first edition purchase of VSL has vapourized my bank account and I sadly can't get the pro edition [:(] The loops you will provide are they only for the perf. set? I only have the Orchestral cube which seems to have no need for loops. So I'd rather the solo violin than loops [H] and what about that piccolo flute...hehe.

LOL. Herb already posted it. [;)]

Herb, might there be a legato version of the oboe with vibrato? I'm honestly annoyed with the non-vibrato performance patch. [:(]

  • excellent!

    Great support!

Will extended ranges for violins up to D7 be supported?

  • Yes, I'm missing the complete range of performance Legati string instruments from that list. [*-)]

Will the correct range of the basses, celli and Violins in the performance set be included?

    Thanks.

  • Sorry, my mistake.
Of course the range extensions for violin and bass ensembles are included.
    I'll correct the list.

  • Grazie! Happy to hear this. [:)]

  • Yay this is great! Very happy about the solo violin, not to mention the celesta!

  • Hi,

will there be a free upgrade of the EXS version of the Performance Set, too? What will be included?

    Great news, anyway!
