  • Performance Legato Clarinet Bug?

I just loaded in the Performance Legato Clarinet forte patch (KLB_perf-leg_f) and discovered a bug in the mapping. Every key plays fine except for D4 (right above middle C). When I play D4, the note plays as C#4.

The legato mode, though, is fine (playing into the D4 triggers the D4 sample, not the C#4 sample).

Just to be certain, I re-installed the Clarinet from the DVD. Still the same problem.

Is it just me, or is anyone else having this problem?

  • I just logged on to report the same thing, then saw your post! [:)]
It's not just the D but the adjacent E flat too. It depends on the interval(s) played and the direction. The E flat plays an E natural coming upwards from from C#, B natural, A, G or F or Eb below! [*-)]
I guess there are a lot of notes in the 230+gigs of samples! (so we'll let VSL off... ...provided of course the corrected file comes soon! [[;)]] )

    Thanks,

    Simon

  • Really sorry to spoil your day, but there might be another bug, unless there's something I've misunderstood:
VA_10_perf-leg_grace_f_1-3 and VA_10_perf-leg_grace_p_1-3: Here the minor and major 2nds are fine but the minor 3rds seem to play with the wrong transition sample. [*-)] I've just checked the violins (p_1-3) and it's the same problem. The minor third's aren't usable like that, and I can't imagine what I could be doing wrong - the user has no control over which transition sample is used... [*-)] Any chance you could check that out? (Might apply generally to the perf-leg_grace_1-3 samples).

    Thanks,

    Simon

  • In the perf-leg_f instrument of the clarinet some unity keys are set wrong.
(This could happen, if regions are mapped transposed in gigaeditor, than unity keys could be changed after savibg the instrument [8-)] )
However it is easy to fix with an artfile, I'll post it tomorrow.

    For the perf-leg_grace instruments:
The perf-leg_grace versions are edited versions of the normal grace notes.
For strings and solobrass there are only half and whole tone steps recorded. So the minor third is mapped using a whole tone interval.
I've mapped this intervalls, because if you want to play for example fast passages in a minor sharp-key it "works" with this instrument.
Generally these instruments are thought for scales, mordents, etc.

It's not thought for programming diminished septchords, of course.

  • Thanks for the explaination - sorry I wrongly suspected a bug! [:O]ops:

  • Here is the unity note fix for the KLB_perf-leg_f instrument.
CM will remove the download file in our update area later.
