  • Mackie Fader Breakup

I've got a master control room fader on a Mackie compact mixer that's losing the right channel.

Here's one point of interest: wiggling the fader from side to side does nothing, but pressing it down into itself brings back the channel. Is that of any diagnostic help, or is that what all broken (or dirty faders) do?

CRC QD Electronic Cleaner brings it back... for a while. Perhaps if I keep bathing it in the spray, it will repair over time. Possible? Would Deoxit offer a benefit that the electronic cleaner will not?

  • Usually when faders act up it's simply dirt, but especially with this kind of product (in which wire is a 4-letter word) you might want to take a look and see if it's come loose from the circuit board. If so, I *think* - think - you should be able to solder it back on.
