  • Panning String Quartet

Simple question. Should I do it? Or are the players so close together that there is no need? Thanks.

  • I would totally do it, just to create some sort of dimension or sense of space in the mix. I wouldn't put them as far apart as I would a section, but definitely a clear right/middle/left arrangement, maybe in an Altiverb?

  • Actually, Space Designer in Logic is all I have for reverb. Now, are you saying put the reverb over top of the panned signal, or is there a panning that can be done in the actual reverb itself?

In logic there is the direction mixer which is ideal for panning. Go to logic/helper/direction mixer.

    Hope this helps.

  • Great. That looks like it will be much better than the normal pan options. Sometimes I think I will never learn how to use Logic to its fullest potential. Thank you.

  • Mirabile, I'd love to check out the Direction Mixer... where exactly is it? I don't recognize that path... thanks!

  • I got to it by clicking on an insert button in the arrange window, going to stereo, Logic, Helper, Direction Mixer. It's right there. Hope this helps.

  • Grazie!
