Sorry I misunderstood your post. Universal mode is a L2 matrix so if you are seeing all your matrixes (including L2) but not the Universal Matrix that would be curious. You can always try deleting all the folders in the directory manager and then dragging them back in from the drive they're on (a fix for a number of ills when things disappear.)

Does the syncrofsoft License Control Center (LCC) see your extended license?

syncrosoft does see my license and I do show the L2 matrices but all of them are keyswitched. None set up for the speed control and nothing that says Unviversal mode.

For example under my preset select I show the Preset for chamber strings Labled SE02 Preset Chamber Strings L2. When I load that it loads all of the Chamber string patches but again they are all keyswitched and no Universal. Under the patch assign I show all the articulations with a L2 but again no Universal patches and nothing but keyswitch setups. I show no repetition patches. Surely I'm missing some presets here.

I have all of the VI SE on it's own hard disk. When I look at the hard disk directly all I see are the install .dat files. A total of 113 files. I assume the preset info is contained within those Dat files.

I'm working on a project while I'm trying to get this set up. Never very productive way to go. But I appreciate your input and welcome anyone else to chime in as well.

There is no Universal Mode in any Special Edition instrument available.
The Universal mode needs articulations which are not part of the Special Edition Standard and Extended instruments.

Thank for the clearification Herb. I have to say this is dissapointing as that was the feature that caused me to be so excited about the product. I'm sure I just missed the clarification about the special edition but all of the videos that are linked to the product and even ones that are shipped with the product speak of this Univeral setup and no where did I see that it only pertained to a specific library. I am a long time fan of VSL and will continue to be but this is a bit of a surprise. I realize that even so the Special Edition is still a good value and I'm sure I will put it to good use but still am dissapointed.

Sorry I don't have SE but several (5) of the collections (all with ext.) I thought you were looking for something that comes with it. In any case SE is an astonishing value. You will have instruments from numerous collections that I still don't have after spending many thousands of dollars.

Dave.. You are right. I have several of the Horizon series for GIGa and so was aware of the value. I was just so intrigued with the way the Unversal Mode worked that I was excited to get my hands on it. I am impressed with the GUI and the amount of control that you have so I think once I get a chance to dig into that a bit more I'll deal with the lack of that mode. I may end up at some point getting into that through the Appasionate Strings or one of the other offerings. All it takes is money.

I also have the Special Edition and was very interested in checking out some Universal Mode Patches. I am a new user of this library so I apologize for the fundamental question.

If I only wanted to purchase an individual library containing Universal Mode Patches, like Orchestral Strings for example, would I be entitled to a discount as the owner of the Special Edition. If so, which library would be the right one for that?

I am glad this was brought up. I was 90% ready to get SE for the very reason if speeding up composing with automatic switching. Without that I can achieve the same results with more K2 and Banks. Here's to hoping SE will be expanded on!

For you that don't have access to the Universal Mode presets, don't think you are missing out on the holy grail. It's nothing but a preset that you could make yourself if you have all the articulations needed - which you don't as you only own this smaller SE version of the complete library. But that doesn't mean you can't make your own presets to fit your needs, and you will be able to load them up whenever you need them to start composing quickly.

Ah, so does the SE player still have speed detection? Sure there would be less articulations, but I could still get a switch between sus/legato/stac.

Since I started this thread I feel like I should give my input after having used SE for a few weeks now. I have been very pleased and have no regrets at all about the purchase. I think I put too much expectation on the Universal mode based on the demos on the site so when I didn't see it in the SE version I was dissapointed. I have to say that the implementation and playability of the engine is really amazing. I have several of these samples in Giga format and find it much easier to work in the SE inviroment. Much more playable and the legato patches are really amazing. I find that I am using combinations of both platforms but when I need to really have control over the patch I'm going to the SE version fairly consistantly. Great Work Herb!

All the mentioned features are implemented, you get exactly the same functionality of the Vienna Instruments as with the bigger collections. Of course there are less samples available, but the "musical intelligence" regarding the interval and repetition detection is always available [:)]

Now that I understand it, I can probably answer it.

The Universal Mode was actually a pre-made patch using a large number of articulations with all the nuances covered. The lack of articulations means there are no pre-made patches like this in SE, but there are enough that you can create your own variation instead. The player and features of said player are the same from SE to the full library. The only difference is the # of articulations & dynamic layers.

Thats why I'm interested if the performance detection can help to save my time.

OK, after some hours of research in the Internet and downloading the manual I understood that performance detection is implemented as a controller that can be used.

So I could use them, but do I have to configure this for all instruments or are there predefind configurations that I can use for this?
