When downloading an Upgrade-License, the License to Upgrade must be present in a protection device.

    - you have registered one ViennaKey so far
    - to this ViennaKey you have _not_ downloiaded any license
    - you have registered all products and received activation codes
(unfortunately you have registered each standard and extended library seperately so you have now 20 activation codes to enter - registering std+ext at the same time would reduce this number to 10 in total)
    - please start with any collection, say solo strings
    - download the solo strings standard license using the respective activation code (you can copy the string from the email and paste it into the first field in the license control center)
    - download the upgrade license to full using the code for the extended library
    - repeat the process for each collection

  • Hey Christian

I purchased my cube from Sweetwater Music and it was very strange....they made me buy the Standard first and said I had to register it before I could get the Extended. I thought that was a bit stupid. I kept asking "I have my ProEdition registered so why can't I just get both at the same time" and they said that this it the way VSL does it. (???) Now I know better. Someone from your end might get intouch with them to let them know that they are not helping the end user out by doing this! (ok, enough of the "rant"!)

Anyway, what's done is done. (I've got 4 Mac Minis and 4 aditional keys-so I'll do it all at once. I just need to get through this) Anyway, I must be doing the process wrong, so I'll follow your instructions (and the video tutorial) and see where it gets me. I thought I was doing it right as I have the Standard Version of "Orch Strings I & II" up and running...but I must have missed something...guess I have to do the "upgrade license thing...I'll be back if I have any problems.

    Thanks Christian!

  • rob, at the time you assumably purchased the standard (beginning october?) they should already have had access to a tool for authorized dealers which allows checking registered products (they have to know this for applying discounts) and issuing full libraries in one run ... anyway, maybe some information has not reached the desk of the sales agents.

unfortunately we have an internal server maintenance this weekend so my possibilities are somehow limited, but please make sure you register all your vienna keys - so i can check if a license download to a key completed successfully.
each vienna key comes with a 180 starts demo-license which allows you to install and run all collections for a quick start. you can view the downloaded licenses in syncrosoft's license control center.

  • Hey Christian,

Ok...I feel like a complete moron that I can't figure this out...I'm so sorry! I've opened up the Syncrosoft License Control Center, put in my Orch Strings I (extended) Activation code and I still get the same message as above...I'm downloading License because upgrade is greyed out..dont know if thats even what I should be looking at?

I'm obviously missing a step here somewhere...(I can run studio full of gear but I just can't get my hands around this! Sorry!)

I following the vidio tutorial, but I'm just not understanding it! Help!

    Thanks!
    Rob

  • rob, have you alredy downloaded the orch strings I standard license to the vienna key you are just trying to upgrade?
please check in your license control center if the respective license is already listed there (should be a key-symbol with a text *orchestral strings violins, violas* or similar wording)

Ok...the License control center has from top to bottom
    "My protection device"
    "USB #
    "All Applications"
    Remaining Starts
    Trash Can

    No Instruments listed...

I then tried to download the Standard Orch Strings (which I did yesterday) license and got this message:

"The License activation code has been used already...an activation code can be used only once to download a license"

Any way to start this whole thing over again now that I have my extended codes?

I have no idea what I've done! Sorry again!

  • i would assume you have the orch strings I standard sitting on another key than the one attached when you tried this ...

  • No...I haven't even opened up the other keys yet...I'm just trying to load the library on my main Mac G5

  • rob, just checked the code from the orch strings I std (and resent it to your registered email) - it is still unused, sorry.
also your registered key does show nothing but the 180 starts demo license ....

Wanted to let you know that Maya solved my problem...it was a corrupt file in the Syncrosoft License center. Did a clean install and everything is activated fine!!!

Thanks for all of your help...I really appreciate the support you guys give!

  • thanks for posting the news - good to know you're up and running.
unfortunately some issues are not too easy to track down and one doesn't always think about possibly obvious reasons ...
    thx, christian
