    Hello,

What are the prospects for your software to be supported with MacOS 10.13 High Sierra in the near/longtime future? I have several computers which cannot update (upgrade? 😃) the OS to anything higher, and a requirement of a higher OS would mean a major investment in thousands of euros.

In other words, if your support stops, what happens to us, High Sierra users?

    Best regards from Stockholm,

    Mika

  • Hi Mika,

We will most probably have to update our minimum system requirements to macOS 10.14 soon, like most other manufacturers (see, e.g., Native Instruments).

Existing software products (before that switch) will of course continue to work on your system.

    Best,

  • Hi Paul,

Thank you for your swift response. I understand that it is technically arduous to keep older OS's supported.

With that said, I hope that the last version of all software supported on MacOS 10.13 is a SUPER stable one, and that it supports future instrument libraries as well.

    Best,

    Mika

  • In my personal experience, Mojave has been much more stable than High Sierra. The only disadvantages being the worse visualization, due to abandoning color subpixel rendering, and worse compatibility with some 32-bit programs.

The former proved to be a minor issue with time and with a few custom settings. Worse, but still decent. The second might be an issue if you rely on those programs.

There is more than a way to run newer operating systems on older Macs, and reports suggest they do work fine. I've not tried any of them, though.

Fair enough. I'm already surpassing the supported OS by two updates on my Mac Pros, and anything higher than MacOS 10.13 would be in fact more unstable on this system. With that said, I understand the development of software and that it is essentially getting better overtime. But as I've stated above, the step to modern times is for me quite an investment, and hence my initial question, which Paul answered to my satisfaction. 😊

    Best,

    Mika

If this may help, the newest Macs are incredibly powerful, despite their reasonable price. A small Mac Studio should already be a huge step from your system.
