    Re the violins: I hadn't anticipated that it was on purpose! Because the Sage ones looks very orderly. However, I'm not sure if its correct. This is how it is for me, the Dimension Violin 1
    P1 Solo: Normal placement left side
    P2 Solo: Backwards, right side
    P3 Solo: Backwards, right side
    P4 Solo: Normal placement left side
    P5 Solo: Normal placement left side
    P6 Solo: Normal placement left side
    P7 Solo: very far placement left side, behind the mics
    P8 Solo: backwards very far out to the right.

    This seems a little weird no? And for the General Purpose, I dont have what is in your screen shot at all, I attached a screen shot of what it looks like for me. Perhaps I need to re-install the presets or something?

    Ok, plot thickens. Turns out that when I flip MIRx settings to Stage A Wide, then things seems to be normal! I'm getting all the options for the General Purpose mic, and the strings are in proper position.

    So something is broken with my Stage A presets, but not the A Wide ones, it seems..

    I can reproduce the issue regarding the General Purpose settings for MIRx SSV Portrait. It seems as something went wrong during the actual implementation of my presets. Sorry for the confusion - I'll ask VSL's software engineers to look into it.

    ... I can't say that anything is wrong with the Dimension Violin presets, though. Everything behaves as expected here as soon as the MIRx settings are assigned properly.

    Yes, I realized the issue with the Dimension Violins, as well as a bunch of other presets, is that the default setting is flipped. So that when you load the P1 solo, the Orchestra I slot is the first one, and thus the one selected. But when loading P2 Solo the order is reversed (see screenshot), thus Orchestra II setting is loaded. That explains the randomness with the different players.

    Same goes for other presets, like when loading Strings-Violin it defaults to I Solo first chair, but when loading Strings-Violin sord it defaults to Solo center warm. 

    Do you see this on your side?

    PS, the issue with the flipped presets is present in both Portrait and Wide, unlike the General Purpose issue, which is only in Portrait, it is however not behaving like that when I select any other venue, like The Sage or Teldex

    As far as I can say this is mainly a incoherence in the listing of the presets. I already made VSL's software engineers aware of the issue, but I didn't get an answer from them up to now. Shouldn't be too hard to fix.

    And Re: 2nd Violins seemingly pointing "away" from the Main Mic: This has been done on purpose, really. :-)

    I understand re the 2nd violins, it was just hard to spot this before you told me. Aside from fixing the issue with the mixed up presets, may I give a suggestion to add Violin 2 variations to the root in the preset folders, so that you could chose V1, V2, VA, Cello, Bass, from the same menu, rather than going into to the menu again and selecting I or II (even though V1 and V2 are just variations of the same, it would still seem more elegant in the menu and save some mouse clicks, in my opinion)

    Yep, even though technically you of course have access to the accurate presets, knowing that there is consistency in selecting the instruments/presets is quite important, so that we don't have to double check every time. So a fix would be great! And, the General Purpose is pretty key for hybrid mixing so that would be awesome to get fixed in SSV Portrait!

    Out of interest, what is your personal view of SSV Wide vs Portrait? When I bought it I was just about to start a project, so I made some quick tests and felt Portrait sounded more natural to my ears, but I didn't really do extensive testing. If you have some thoughts to share that'd be really interesting!

    They follow different ideas, obviously. "Portrait" is the classical MIRx setup, in any sense of the word: Lots of room, long reverb and an explicit sense of depth. "Wide" adheres to the "Synchronized" approach with more direct, in-your-face instruments, less reverb and a clear focus on width rather than depth. The former would be my choice for pure orchestral pieces, while the latter lends itself clearly to the popular "hybrid orchestral" arrangements.

    Hello Dietz,

    it seems Synchron MIRx preset for Chamber Basses doesn't work properly.
    Please take a look at the attached screenshot: the instruments position doesn't change, such as character, equalizer and so on, and the MIRx settings window doesn't contain any preset for it.
    Can you help me?

    Thanks for the hint! That's a known issue which will be fixed with the upcoming release of MIRx SSV.

    Is there a graphics update coming to MIR standalone? I didn't realize how much better MIR Pro looks within VEP, when I checked lupine's screenshot above. Here's a screenshot from me for comparison..

    Haha, well..... Having non-pixelated, retina-style text seems like the way to go these days. Also the issue becomes a bit more apparent in the attached screen shot, using the resolution of my 4k screen :)

    The latest screenshot looks good here, too, although on an old, non-retina MacBook.

    I suppose Rasmus Faber refers to the GUI elements which in MIR standalone show up with the old VE 5 graphics, while within VE Pro 7 they come in the full renewed graphics of VE 6

    Well, in a way it doesn't harm anything directly, but I suppose that could be said for most graphic updates. It is however one of the few plugins in my system that still is not retina ready, and reading the text on my 4k screen is quite a challenge. It would definitely be a worthy upgrade for such a lovely piece of software, especially since you have a very nice graphic profile since coming with VE6 and Synchron Player.

    Happy users make more users, I guess could be one argument? ;)
