  • Vienna Suite to augment MIRx features?

Dear Viennese fellows, I'm demoing MIRx with SE and it really changed the way my basic mixes sound. Thank you VSL. As far as eq, reverb and positioning are already built-in with MIRx, do Vienna Suite add significant features for a non-professional user like me? (Must add that my ageging iMac feels comfortable with MIRx, just a bit of latency finetuing required) Best

  • Hi Fabio,

while Vienna Suite might not be an indispensable ingredient, I think your mixes could benefit quite a bit from careful use of compression and (stereo bus) limiting. The EQs might be helpful, too, especially when you're fond of the presets we created for the use with Vienna Instruments. On top if it, you will find the Analyzer and the Goniometer revealing unless you don't own and use similar tools already.

Additional panning options might come handy on rare occasions. The same is true for additional reverberation.

  • Hi Fabio,

One thing that you need to be aware of is that MIRx is applied Pre-Insert. Just to be clear, the signal flow is: first MIRx reverb is applied to the instrument inside of VI -> THEN any other effects you want to run are applied to the signal .

MIRx is amazing (especially for the price) and so easy to use. Vienna Suite is a great collection of very high quality effects. I  believe you can demo the suite for 30 days, so I would try it out with MIRx and see how you like it. (You could also look at crossgrading to the Syncronized version of your SE libraries)

  • Thanks Michael for your advices.

I demoed MIRx and purchased few venues while on sale.

Easy to use, sound (and cost) effective, it's ok for my mixes, even in a notation environment (must admit I prefer writing than engineering) and running a mere 6Gb RAM 2009 iMac.

I don't feel confined by Pre-insert configuration as I only use VSL in my workflow.

Still, I'm interested in the Suite for custom tailored presets: I already own a bunch of signal processors — some came at the cost of the entire Suite — but they focus on contemporary sounds and timbres.
I’ll absolutely demo it in the next days and start collecting money. Birthday shall not be far at this point.
