I'm sure this question has been asked and answered a bazillion times but I can't seem to find an answer or a tutorial or a video on the entire internet that solves this basic problem.
I'm running VEPro on a 'Slave' PC. And I'm able to play the instruments using the VE instrument in Logic. Different channels give me the different instruments, and all is fine and dandy.
The problem is when it comes time to mix and I want to automate the volumes of the different multi-timbral channels... If I automate the fader in Logic it controls ALL the VE channels (coz it's automating the Logic channel that hosts the audio instrument).
So here's what I tried with no success:
1) created a multi-instrument in the environment and cabled it directly to the VEPro instrument. No go. Moving the MIDI fader on any sub-channel still moves the main overall instrument channel.
2) adding a transformer between Multi-Instrument and Audio Instrument channel. Still no go. I can play the instruments, but any MIDI volume moves affect all channels. (For the transformer I followed instructions online, as well as some found in forums here).
3) I tried using CC11 (Expression) messages on individual midi channels. No effect...
??? Back in the 'good ol' MIDI days, when everybody had a rack full of JV1080's and Proteus Modules etc, MIDI volume automation was the simplest most obvious thing in the world. What the heck happened? How can this be so complicated and mysterious???
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm probably missing something obvious... Silly me, I thought writing the actual music would be the hard part. :-)
