Solo piano MIR settings
Has anyone created/found a really good setting for a solo piano similar to a decent classical piano recording? I am thinking of a recording which sounds like it is in a hall, not too close micβd, not too far either. I am not asking how to do this, just wondering if someone has some settings they are really happy with which they would be willing to share?

Hi there,
I created piano-specific settings for all MIRx collections (also available in MIRx-Mode within MIR Pro). I addition there are several suggested setups in form of Venue Presets which you can download from the "Tutorials/Templates" section of your "MyVSL" user-area.
... I'm sure that others came up with different ideas - I hope that you'll find people who are willing to share! π

This is exactly what I was looking for! Is there a way to save these settings so I can import them into existing set ups?

Yes, of course. If you're using MIR Pro as plug-in, just save the settings of the instance you're using for the piano. In VE Pro, there's there are several possibilities: 1) Copy/Paste between Channels, 2) merging project data from the "File" pull-down, 3) using the concept of "Channel Sets" for saving and recalling (partial) templates.

I have some questions about those MIR presets.
- They appear to be viframes that open in VEP, which in turn configures MIRPRO inside VEP with whatever is in the preset. (except for venue 5). Am I understanding correctly that these presets are mainly related to the main and secondary mic configuration, room eq, etc.. since there are no instrument tracks loaded yet...the presets have no bearing on how instruments will be arranged in the room, but they do have a bearing on where the non-close mics are placed in the room, which mics are being used and other fine tuning. yes?
- Venue5, you saved them as .mirep files, which load directly into mirpro app, or into VEP by using the Mir Pro file open menu option, which I assume essentially does the same thing as described above, just loading into the mir pro plugin inside vep. Yes?
- Is it save to say that I can read one of the viframe files mentioned above, then use the file menu to save as .mirep file, and it will be equivlant, but loadable into mirpro directly in my DAW if I desire that way?
- I assume the only way to save a mirpro preset that includes instrument positions is actually to save as a full viframe template, or even a daw template with tracks, etc yes?
- Any chance we will ever see venue 6 presets?
