I am having latency problems running VEP 5 and Pro Tools 10 hd.
Problem:
The latency is considerable. At the lowest buffer settings I can uncomfortably work through midi programming although there are a lot of pops and clicks. The latency is to great for tracking audio in the same session. The delay is around 300 samples with Pro Tools delay compensation turned off and actually INCREASES to about 1400 with delay compensation turned on*. I thought VEP worked with delay compensation. Any thoughts? My last thing to try is to move all sound libraries to a dedicated 7200 rpm internal drive. I hope this helps with the pops and clicks but don't think it will help with the latency problems.
Could sure use some help getting this working better
VEP settings are:
Buffer = 0
Threads = 4
midi ports = 48
audio outputs = 58
audio inputs = 2
Pro Tools playback engine settings are:
H/W Buffer = 512
host processors = 6 processors
CPU usage = 95%
delay compensation = long*
cache size = 512
Plu in buffer = Level 0
System specs:
3.2 Ghz Quad Core Intel Xeon
32 GB 1066 DDR3 Ram
192 and digital 192
VEP running on this machine, no slave
2 instances in 64 bit mode
Primarily running Kontakt Based plug ins (LASS, Damage, Kontakt factory, Berlin Piano etc)
I AM SORRY ABOUT THE FORMATTING OF THIS POST, I GUESS THIS SYSTEM DOES NOT ALLOW FOR PARAGRAPHS.
