  • Program Change

    Hello Community

I am trying to organise all strings with programm change and would like to know.

Is it the way to type the numbers instead of shifing Up and Down?

  • I guess the more detales would be better.

I keep in mind a Computer folder with files. If I have four files, numbered 1, 3, 5, 7 and after I'd like to add numbers 2 and 4 and 6,  they will go and stand in order between them. In a Program Chage, if I want to make some changes by puting a new Patches in, all other Patches will be shifted and have other order of  numbers to some extend.

  • Hi

If you are talking on using prg. changes in the Vienna Instruments Pro, then yes! Moving a patch in the column to the left will shift down the folloving patches but the numbering of the patches that correspond to the prg changes will remain.

So if you have 2 patches:

    1 legato2 staccato
and now drag the legato patch below the staccato patch you will have:

    1 staccato
    2 legato

    regards Stig

  • Hi Stig

Thanks for an answer. Befor your letter I new how to change a numbers/patches. Just move them Up and Down and I'll have the same articulations set  but with a different numers.                                                                                                                   ----- My question was about how to reorganise by adding a new articulations between existing numbers? Deliting is easy by Clear Matrix and the Sell number is free for a  new patch. Lets say I have a set I'm happy with it today from numbers 0 to 100 and after I want to reorganize and  add a new patch under staccato 0. It is not posible without deliting the number 1 or I must put it below the set with unused number 101, move it Up to begining of set.  If there was a posibility to type the numbes as in Computer, it would save my time.                                                                                                                                              --- I am traying to have the same numbers for a different instruments and when I find a beter combination, lets say, for a Violins, even, if other instruments do not have the same articulations/patches, still having a basic articulations under the same numbers will be more easy and comfortable to work with.

  • Yes this is the drawback by using prg. Changes to choose preset, you can*t "mess" with the order.

  • Hi

I use Bank and Program changes  (X Y) with levell II presets

  • Hello Cyril and thanks for coming in.

My level is fare behind yours to understand the proposal. Could you give a detales, please!                                 It would be so good VSL to cooperate with Logic to change the articulations within EXS24.

  • Hi

How does Bank changes fit in her?

  • The VSL instruments that are in the EXS contains articulation switching (RFM ;) )

You need to build an environnement that will conver Bank Program changes to notes

  • The bank change is setting the X axis and the program Change the Y axis

If you need to send C1 and C2 to set your articulation,

    - C1 will be set in the Bank Change of the instrument

    - C2 in the environnement (read manual section : Custom bank changes)

You can define a transformer that will convert Program 1 into note C1, Program 2 into C#1

  • Okay. I hope that can help Gukas!

  • Thanks Stig for your hopes about me and, of cours thanks to Cyril for deep information. I'm very fond of Logic and the environnement is like a magic dongin waiting for me. Always I dreamed to investigate is it available to create some poliphonic forms in a transformer as retrograde, inversion, retrograde of inversion, or harmonic mokup? Thanks!

  • if you want I can help you via Skype laterthis week

  • Hi Cyril,

It would be grate to contact you. Thanks. What I sould do for that?

  • I am sending  you a PM
