    Maybe you have all the customers you need :) but I was just thinking:

    I just recently upgraded from Dimension Strings standard to full. I really felt things came together with some of the patches there, in particular espressivo and sustain with progressive vibrato and also the crescendos.

    What struck me is how these patches more resemble most other sample libraries where this feeling of instant gratification and playability is sort of the selling point.

    I thought maybe you could gain more customers by putting these patches into the standard library and shuffle some of the current standard patches into the full library (portato, sforzato, and fortepiano maybe)

    I could be wrong of course, it was just something that came across my mind.

    It's called marketing Mr. Faber😝

    You hook them in by offering a reduced rate for a limited number of articulations and samples.  Once they've tasted the sugar they'll soon realize that they need more and can't get enough.  It's kind of like a having a good beer; one bottle is way too much but a million bottles is never enough.

     

    By doing this they are actually gaining more customers and keeping them💡

     

    But the nice thing about VSL is that they are always offering specials, promotions and discounts.  Just wait long enough and as Don Corleone said, "I'm gunna make him an offer he can't refuse."  Eventually they'll have some kind of sale that will allow you to finish whatever collection you've started.

     

    My advice for new comers is to buy as complete a library as you can.  Instead of buying four standard libraries in four different instrument groups buy one or two full libraries to get the full compliment of articulations.  Keep in mind that there are monthly specials ongoing so you will have an opportunity to buy something else to fill in whatever you're missing later.

    Yes of course marketing by hooking them in, thats precisely my point. Other companies are (increasingly?) marketing themselves with instant playability.

    Which is why I suggested to put the more beginner patches in the standard libraries, to make the libraries feel a bit less daunting at first (i.e, the espressivo patches which is a bit "oh wow a real violin"). So I'm not really saying "put all the useful stuff in the standard library", I'm more saying "put more "wow" stuff in the standard".

    Again, I'm not sure this would work, but I've experienced quite a few people chosing Spitfire, EW, LASS, etc, over Vienna, and the complexity seems to be a bit of a blessing and a curse here.

    Since I love the Vienna stuff I'd personllay love to see many more people using it, so just trying a bit of brainstorming here :)

    Unfortunately that would mean two different sorts of licences; one for the people who have already bought the product, and one for the new purchasers. I think that it would become way too confusing to deal with. It could work for new products though.
