  • VI PRO and MIR issues

I had a catastrophic crash and had to re-image my computer OS drive.  Fortunately I make new images monthly so it was not too old.  However, when I try using VE Pro and MIR in my DAW (Sonar X1) a weird thing is happening.  I can add a VI Pro channel, and I can hear it in Sonar, but when I change to the MIR screen to move the instrument on the stage, or switch venues, or even if I am just on the mixer screen, I get no sound!  Even when I try just using my mouse cursor on the virtual keyboard at the bottom of the intrument, it does not play.  It's like Sonar has control but when I go to VI PRO or MIR I get no sound!  It's as if everything in VE Pro and MIR and VI Pro, everything is locked!  Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Mike

  • Hi Mike,

Sounds like Sonar X1 doesn´t release the audio driver when the focus is not on Sonar. Which soundcard are you using? DId you assign an ASIO driver?

I´d suggest to contact Cakewalk directly with that question, a quick google-search didn´t lead me anywhere...

I have a Steinberg MR816x audio interface and I thought it was set to an ASIO driver.  I'm not sure how to find that setting.  I have written to Steinberg.

  • Hi Mike,

What do you see in Cubase when you go to Devices => Device Setup => VST Audio System? This is where you assign your soundcard / audio-driver.

  • (Paul, Mike wrote that he's using Sonar X1, not Cubase ;-) ...)
