  • Finale & VSL - polyphonic legato

    Hi!

I'm using VSL SE, VE PRO in Finale 2014 on my PC. One of the things I really miss is the possibility to use the legato-samples as soon as I write two notes in the same staff. Which I do all the time in strings, for example...

I wonder, if I purchase the Vienna Instruments PRO, the description says "Polyphonic legato when playing chords using Legato Performance Patches". And of course a million things more.

But I'm specifically interested in this: Will this give me the possibility to write two notes in celli (or any other intrument) and still be able to use the legato feature? Really hoping for that... :-)

    Best,
    Jonas

  • Hello Jonas!

Yes, that will be possible with the polyphonic legato mode of VI Pro. You can give it a try with a free demo license.

  • Ah, great tip. Thanks!

  • Hmm... Not getting it to work properly.

I have my standard metaframe that I always use with Finale. I opened it and chose "Convert MEtaframe To VI PRO". After that, when I open one of the instances in that Metaframe I can read "Vienna Instruments Pro" in the top of the light area. In Finale the legato KS is on in the Human PLayback settings for Vienna Instruments. I have registered the demo too.

It sounds as it did before the upgrade, one of the two notes are performed like a gracenote, and one is long.

Is there something else in the conversion that I have missed out?

Thanks for your fast replies in here!!

  • Did you turn on the polyphonic legato mode under Advanced/Options?
