  • Is it possible to record midi data from notation program in sequencer

    Hi,

I was wondering if it is possible to record midi data from notion or sibelius into Logic Pro X as an equivalent of recording audio into logic through Rewire. If it's possible using the same instance of VE Pro

It would be great if that could be possible because than I can use CC data in a more convenient way than I can through for instance the sequencer staff in Notion. There could be an real integration between a sequencer like Logic and a notation program like Notion or Sibelius
    Any ideas?

In VE Pro you can select preferences, external midi tab teh option Vienna instruments Midi. Has that something to do with it?

    Kind regards,

    Frieda

  • Hi frienell 3530,

I don't know about Logic Pro X, but I have the same configuration setup for Finale (2014) / Cubase (8). I suppose you need some midi cables ( or not ..?). For windows machines I use LoopBe30 to conect the midi out from Finale to in to Cubase. Indeed, in this way if you "arm" the tracks and hit record, all midi data is available for "CC procesing" in DAW. You can even maintain some basic CC lines from your notation program ( notion / sibelius) and enhance them further in the DAW for a more realistic performance.

      Hope it helps..in a way :)

  • Hi BF,

Unfortunately I am using a Mac pro. Are there programs like LoopBe30 for Yosemite? How can I google, are it virtual midi cables?

    Kind regards,

    Frieda

  • Someone on the Notion forum gave me the tip that in a Mac you can make use of the IAC busses. By the way thanks you putting me on the right track with the virtual midi cables.

    Kind regards,

    Frieda

  • Great,

    Good luck and happy writing,
