16 part choir problems

My big Symphony has a 16 part choir 4 of each SATB. I have an individual choir device using the VE Choir sounset. "Use manual sound set" is ticked each part has the ensemble.ah sound id. All midi connections are correct.

The problem is Soprano 1 triggers the soprano 2 VI whilst Soprano 2, 3 & 4 trigger the correct VI i.e. soprano 1& 2 are both triggering the soprano 2 VI and no one is triggering the soprano 1 VI. The same is true of the Altos and Basses but bizarrely not the Tenors who all trigger their correct VI.

Suggestion please for ensuring all sixteen parts trigger their correct VI.

In Sibelius Playback setup if you click show for a particular VE instance, is the one that is connected the one you expect to be connected?  This seems to be the only place where a given soprano could be routed to the wrong VE instance.  Then check the SIbelius mixer to see that the VE instance you want for each instrument is selected.

 I have been srupulous in ensuring all the routing between Sibelius and VSL is correct. The right instance and channels from sibelius go to all the corrects instances and channels in VEPro5.

Hello David!

It may have different reasons why things like this happen. First I recommend resetting all output devices to (Auto) in the Sibelius mixer. If you have made settings there manually before, this could have messed up your whole playback.

If this doesn't help, it could be that some staves in your score are not what you think they are. In this case it would help to add all 16 choir staves anew to your score. Then cut and paste the content of your old choir staves to the new ones.

This can be checked by selecting a staff and doing an edit instrument.  That will highlight the instrument that was loaded when the score was created.  If the staff instrument definition differs from what is in the manual sound set, then you can have problems with the soundset (usually caused by the nat. or reset instrument defaulting to the wrong articulation due to an incorrect keyswitch).  Also, if you have an instrument change placed somewhere in the staff and the change is not consistent with the soundset, then that could have similar negative consequences.

I tried resetting the mixer channels to auto but that made it worse they were even more mixed up. And they are all correct instrument. What solved it was initiating another instance (the 11th in this project) and place the three troublesome parts in that instance and all is well. For the moment.

Actually that still didn't work and in the end I had to create four seperate devices each with one of SATB.
