Does anyone have a set of preferences for Finale Human Playback and Vienna Ensemble? I am using a MacBook Pro 15" and Finale 2010.
I am new to VSL sounds and need some help.

Hi Cyril!
Finale is a notation software, while Logic is a DAW. So they are hard to compare. Finale doesn't have typical DAW features like piano rolls or professional mixing capabilities. Instead you get advanced notation features. So one can't really substiture the other.

Hi Andi
There are so many problems with Logic and VSL, are they exist with Finale
Can I call you ? I may have free phone ! where do you live ? Send me a PM with your phone number at cb dot pub at numericable dot com

Sorry to say, that we don't offer telephone support. As written before, Finale can't replace Logic. If you are unhappy with Logic, you might want to check out other DAWs (like Cubase, ProTools, Sonar, Digital Performer). If you are interested in Finale, you could get a free trial version from their webpage.

Hi Andi
I just want to write my orchestral music, I dont want to be bother to put note for changing articulations ...
I can use Logic after I have wrote the music to add what I cannot do in Finale, or vice and versa, record in Logic and pass the files to Finale
I have tried to install the trial version, after it has download for 1/2 hour it is asking the system password and the installer is giving an error ! I have report the problem to Finale, no answer yet !
Are you happy with Finale ?
Is it handling one VEP for all the instruments ? 99 instrument ? MIR ?
Is there is the same problem with Logic, using on cpu to send to VE server ?
Is it a CPU exterminator ?
All your comments are welcome !
By any chance do you have the Human playback for the VSL DVD ?
Many thanks

Cyril
Hi Cyril!
I provided the link for the Finale Human Playback Preferences for the Special Edition earlier in this thread. Sorry to say, that there are no accoring settings for our bigger collections.
You can load up to eight VEP instances (or better: one VEP instance and seven VEP Event inputs) with Finale. Of course it's also possible to use MIR Pro within VEP with Finale.

Andi
Cyril, have you tried using VST Expression in Cubase? If all you want is to avoid using keyswitches (etc.) that might by just what you need, and you wouldn't need to transfer files from one program to another.
However, if the actual look of the notation is what you need, then the Cubase notation editor is no better than the Logic one, so you would still need a notation program. In which case I would recommend Sibelius, because if you need two programs anyway, it would get you a pretty nice looking printout much quicker than Finale, due to things like Magnetic layout (and others).
In any case, both Cubase and Sibelius have a demo, so you can try them out.

Cyril,
«I just want to write my orchestral music, I dont want to be bother to put note for changing articulations ...»
The best for that in Notion3
I'm composer and my way is to write music...
I use N3 with the full SE..
Its a great tool ! The print is also pretty good...
Take time to explore N3
