  • VI Pro and Sibelius

    Hi,

I'm using VI Pro with Sibelius, actually, I'm trying to use...

I load one VI Pro by instrument.

When I load the thirteen instrument, Sibelius crashes, and by the way it has been untill now impossible to load the 50 instrument full orchestra.

Is there a special way or should I come back to the former VI ?

    Thanks for your answer

  • Hello Spipprod!

I recommend using Vienna Ensemble and loading VI Pro with Vienna Ensemble. Loading 50 instruments is possible, but it may be that you are overloading your RAM. Please take a look at the Activity Monitor (Mac) or the Task Manager/Processes (Windows) to see if you are overloading your RAM.

If you haven't done so yet, I also recommend checking out the "Optimizing Sibelius Playback" manual. It can be downloaded here:

No, there's really a bug somewhere. My computer is 16 Gb RAM and I just load 2,5 GB at maximum before the crash.

The fact is that after trying more and more, I can load the instruments; but... I'm loosing one week with this joke.
VE doesn't help me anyway, that's another software to use and it is just more complicated to work.

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • Hi Spipprod!

Sibelius is a 32-bit application and can only load 32-bit plugins. That's why your computer crashes after loading ~2,5 GB. That's no bug, this is a limit for ALL 32-bit applications. I recommend using Vienna Ensemble Service (64-bit). If you load Vienna Ensemble plugins when VE Service (64-bit) is running in the background, these plugins will connect to the 64-bit service and you will be able to use all of your RAM.

By the way. Please don't answer to e-mail notifications from the forum. These answers will go to an error-account. Our administrator was so kind and posted your reply on the forum for you.

  • Hi Andi,

Thanks to your links, the system is right now working quite well, simplier and faster with VE. So, I consider the problem as solved.

However, Sibelius connected with VI was able able to load until 8 GB RAM - and certainly more, but I didn't try. It's why I'm a little surprised by what is written above.

    Anyway, thanks for your answers,

    Best regards,

    F.P.
