I have upgraded to VE software 4.1.7644 and whenever I open a new instance of the plugin in Digital Performer, a new 64-bit instance opens up (normal behavior). However, a few seconds later, a 32-bit instance of VE also opens up. Whenever I close this new instance, it reloads automatically after a few seconds. I don't understand why this would be happening. This also was happening with the previous release of VE 4.1 (downloaded in December 2010).
update 03Feb11: After much experimenting, this seems to solve the problem of the unwanted duplicate instances on Mac:
- Uninstall VE
- Delete vsl preferences in library>audio>preferences (about 4-5 different files)
- Restart
- Reinstall VE (latest Mac version)
- Run directory manager to redirect library
- Run Vienna Ensemble and Vienna Ensemble (64-bit) each on their own, verifying they are configured correctly and making sounds
- Launch DP, and see if the duplicate instance still loads.
