Hi guys,
I've posted once before re: this issue, but there's been no resolution. I use the latest version of K4 inside VEPro. I run VEPro both native on my Mac Pro, 10.6.5, 2.8 Ghz 8-core, 18Gb of Ram, and on a Slave PC with 8 Gb of Ram. This issue occurs on both machines: If I load up my VEPro metaframes and then want to add some Kontakt instruments, everything is fine. But once I launch Logic, and VEPro is linked to it, if I go and delete an instrument from Kontakt, it takes a long time, and if I want to load a new instrument, it can sometimes take 10 minutes!!!
Please help. this is making me insane.

Very slow load times in K4

If you don't need to have them linked try decoupling the instances. Open the plugin instance and click decouple. Otherwise I am in almost the same position as you. My Kontakt VIs are taking forever to load only when I am using them in VEPro.

I don't know that this will fix your problem, but it was such an obscure "miracle cure" for my crackling/popping problem, I think it is worth a try. Someone on the LASS boards pointed out that Kontakt's QuickLoad feature is causing strange problems. Once I deleted absolutely everything from the QuickLoad window, disabled Background Loading in the Kontakt options, and rebooted... all of my problems disappeared. I have a 13GB 64-bit VEP template of Kontakts (Mac 10.6.6); just now I tried deleting an instrument and adding a different one in one of the instances, and both only took a few seconds. So, maybe, fingers crossed...

I agree with threetwo suggestion. Each time you open Kontakt4, Quickload (not database) is rebuild from users settings folder (located on system HD). If Quickload datas are quite huge and you have a HDD (instead of SSD) as system HD, it can take ages to rebuild the Quickload menu. It can completely slow down you computer until this process is done. Here I have 2 machines (PC), one Quad2Core with a SSD (Win7 64bits) and an old Athlon XP with a SATA1 HDD (Win XP 32 bits). PC2 is quite useless if I don't delete all folders of the quickload menu. PC1 is quite ok, because of SSD (but K4 always rebuilds QL database). It is the same with K4 standalone, so I think it is not a VEP issue.
