  • (Solved) DP7.22 and VE opening unwanted duplicate instances of the plugin

I have upgraded to VE software 4.1.7644 and whenever I open a new instance of the plugin in Digital Performer, a new 64-bit instance opens up (normal behavior).  However, a few seconds later, a 32-bit instance of VE also opens up.  Whenever I close this new instance, it reloads automatically after a few seconds.  I don't understand why this would be happening.  This also was happening with the previous release of VE 4.1 (downloaded in December 2010).

update 03Feb11:  After much experimenting, this seems to solve the problem of the unwanted duplicate instances on Mac:

    • Uninstall VE
    • Delete vsl preferences in library>audio>preferences (about 4-5 different files)
    • Restart
    • Reinstall VE (latest Mac version)
    • Run directory manager to redirect library
    • Run Vienna Ensemble and Vienna Ensemble (64-bit) each on their own, verifying they are configured correctly and making sounds
    • Launch DP, and see if the duplicate instance still loads.

  • I'm unable to reproduce this here in any way. Could you describe step by step what you are doing exactly? Thanks.

  • I just put this on the MOTUNATION forum: VE Pro Problems with DP7.22? Bundles? by hrw » Wed Jan 26, 2011 5:39 am I'm having an annoying time with VE Pro and DP. it happens sometimes that when i keep my VE Pro sessions open (on host or slave) that when i then change DP projects that it loads and connects it to new and empty VE Pro instances. I've got the correct naming of them and everything and i use VE Pro is always decoupled so i don't have to reload everything most of the time. Also sometimes the right name doesnt come up straight away when its on local host?? Anyone have similar issues or solutions?

  • ...this also was the previous version (DEC download). Am about to install latest one. Looks like i have a similar problem to fsstudio though!

  • This is all I'm doing in DP

    Create new session

Add new instrument track > Vienna Ensemble

After the initial VE instance loads, a second instance starts up (I then have 2 VE icons open in the dock).  It looks like the first instance is a 64-bit instance of VE and the second instance that loads appears to be a 32-bit instance of it.  After closing the second instance that loads (without saving), it reloads on it's own after a few seconds.

  • I guess our problems are a little different but both involve unwanted instances.

  • Just in case it helps..... I am also a DP7.22 user, Mac G5 Quad PPC, OS 10.5.8. I have just loaded Vienna Ensemble V4.1.7644 (NOT VE Pro, please note) and I did not reproduce the unwanted 32 bit opening.

  • How do you uninstall VE Pro?

I'm happy to report (so far so good) that this seems to have fixed the issue for me! Thank you for your solution and i hope it continues this way! Thanks again! Haydn.
