    Hi there,

    I'm in the process of moving my VSL Instruments to a new PC computer running Windows 7 from a MacMini, using VE Pro as the host. I can see and load instruments all day if I'm in 32-bit mode (in both VE Pro standalone and server modes), but when I try to do so in 64-bit mode none of my instruments show up in the right hand panel (also in both standalone and server modes) - I just see "(empty presets)". I've rebuilt my Directory Manager multiple times, always deleting all folders and rebuilding them from scratch, using the Directory Manager program as well as from within VE Pro (via the Options menu), rebooting after rebuilding, etc.

    Also, when VE Pro is booting up in 32-bit I see it scanning for both licenses and libraries, but when I boot in 64-bit it only scans for licenses (and not libraries).

    One thing that I'm wondering is if I'm having problems because I simply copied the VSL samples from my Mac hard drive onto a "mule" drive, and then from the "mule" drive onto an internal drive of the PC. I'd prefer not to have to install everything from scratch if possible as I have many VSL libraries.

    Any ideas?

     I'm not completely confident about all of this, but you may have copied across an extra directory manager file that is confusing the different 32-bit and 64-bit versions. I believe the file is called "vlsdirs1", mine is in the Program Data/VSL directory (hidden system file), if you have another version of this file on your drive caused by file copying it could be confusing the directory manager. You could delete this file(s) and let directory manager build them again, though I would save this file  somewhere, so you can put them back if this all goes wrong.
    But there is a very strong chance that the mac directory structure is going to differ form the windows one, so things could well be in different places than required.

    I´d try to install the latest eLCC and the latest VSL Software again, just to be safe.

    Please forgive me for disappearing after asking this question - I had some unexpected family health problems to deal with.

    Andy, your advice was spot on - thanks! Once I deleted the "vsldir1" from my system I was fine - brilliant! However, now I'm having a legacy problem; whenever I open a metaframe I get many repeated dialogue warnings stating that the "Custom Data folder is inaccesible. Please use Directory Manager to specify a new Custom Data folder." I've tried to use Directory Manager to select a folder with no luck. Do I need to manually create a new "vsldir1" folder somewhere because I deleted it?

    BTW, the reason I completely deleted the file was because I still had problems by just dragging it to the desktop (I must confess to not fully understanding Windows 7 as I've mainly been a Mac guy for decades).

    Thanks again for your help, as well as to Paul for his suggestions (I have also re-installed the latest eLCC and VE Pro software).
