  • Vienna Ensemble Pro slave problem

I am slaving two PC to my DAW, DAW and one slave running on Windows 7 and the other slave rumming XP; everthing works fine until recently when I open a song file, my W7 slave was not recognized and the song loads two instances of VEP on my host PC. I checked on the VST instruments ( I am using Cubase 5.5 ) and could not find the W7 slave. More curiously, I don't see the XP slave either but it was actually connected and loaded all the instruments. What could be the cause? Thanks!

  •  Are you using fixed IP?

  • I guess so. I am using a router, my ISP provider gives me a floating IP but for within the intranet I believe all IPs are fixed. Does it make a difference? Thanks.

  •  IP is only fixed it you have set it manually.

  • Oh I see. Could you tell me how to fix the IP on a W7 PC? Thanks.

  • Hi I'm having the same problem with Logic! It was showing my slaves but now they wont show up at all. But strangely my session still loads. I can still work with that session but am no longer able enable new connections to VEP because the slaves no longer show up. I click connect and nothing happens. Same thing if I load a new project. This is the strangest issue, I can't figure it out at all. Is this somehow related to a fixed ip? Why would it be working before and now all the sudden it wont. I'm in the middle of a huge gig and this is the last thing I need. Everything was working perfectly. PLEASE HELP! - I promise to buy a download instrument if someone on the VSL team can help me figure this out asap! - lol Here are my specs Logic 9.1.3 (32bit) - iMac 2.93 Ghz Intel Core i7 - 8GB RAM - OS X 10.6.5 - Mbox 3 Mini (3rd Gen) USB - G Raid Mini Firewire 800 for audio - Vienna Ensemble PRO build 7384 - Kontakt 4 / Spectrosonics / EW PLAY v2.0.25 - Altiverb 6.3.5

  • No response from VSL people? I think this problem is not caused by fixes IP. I suceeded in loading a few times by 1. Starting all VEP on slave machines first, do not start VEP on master PC. 2. Start DAW programme, then I can spot all VEP on slave machines 3. Loading all VSTis on slave machine, then start VEP on master PC 4. Now I spot the VEP on master PC and I load the rest of the VSTi. Well this used to work for the past few days but today I DON"T SEE ANY VEP ON ANY OF MY MACHINE, WHY VSL WHY?????? Jsut a few minutes ago, after rebboting many times, the VEP works again. And the strange thing is, if I open a new song ( Cubase ) I can see all the VEPs there, so maybe I was using too many VSTis in one project? I really don't know. What I do know is that I didn't have this problem with earlier versions of VEP. Update screw ups?

  • I am having the same problem in Logic 9. I can see one of my slave computers but another one that I just set up does not show up as a slave. Could it be a network or router issue if I can see one but not the other? Ive double checked the network settings on both computers and they seem to be both the same. Any Ideas?

  • It's got nothing to do with Fixed Dynamic IP. I am using Cubase 5.5. Besides using VEP I alsi loaded VSTis in my DAW. I found out that by disbling some of my VSTis ( in this particular project the Kong Audio VSTis , the VEP slaves appear again. So now I bounced all the Kong Audio VSTis and everything is normal again. So my best guess is, some VSTis are causing the problem with VEP.
