  • The INSP:IR Impulse Library.

    Hi everyone,

I'n really interested in the INSP:IR impluse library.

I am trying to think what the comment means  "The multiple measurement positions offer you a choice of where to set your source and listener positions within a given room which gives you unique flexibility." that is on the web page about the impulses.

Does this mean that you have, let's say, for example, if you are using the Bartok Hall, that you can position the instruments in different positions on the stage, such as near, middle and far? I understand that you cannot shift the positions around as you can in MIR, but that there is a type of stage position for your instruments in the IR's.

Thanks if someone can fill me in on this.

    best regards,

    Steve

  • Please understand that INSP:IR was developed by our Hungarian colleagues from Inspired Acoustics, so we don't know as many details as we do when it comes to our own products. But in principle you are right: The INSP:IR library offers a few features that you can find in MIR on a larger scale, like impulses emitted into different directions, form different spots on a stage.

  • Hi Dietz,

thanks for your reply and your help with this. Do you suggest that I contact the Inspired Acoustics company about this then?

thanks for any suggestions you may have in regard to this.

    best,

  • Yes, that's most certainly the best way to get first-hand information. Inspired Acoustics have a support form available online:

  • Hi Dietz,

Thank you kindly for the link.

  • I've bought INSP:IR and there is no tutorial or guide included to all these IRs (at least I didn't find one after installation ...). That's a pity! You just have to try and error, which is a bit annoying and time consuming. Although Inspired Acoustics made this add on to the Vienna Suite, VSL sells it and should - for my taste - feel reponsible for it.I can also try to get some help from Inspried Acoustics myself if you think, that there is no need to publish some further information to this library.

  • Hi HeiPet,

I will contact the software developers this week, and see if they have any materials or advice they can give.

I know Beat Kaufmann has examples of his use of them on his website and they sound really good.

Thank you and best regards HeiPet,

    Steve[:)]

  • Hi Steve,

just found out, that you can download a manual after registering to the Inspired Acoustics homepage. It would be helpful, if this tutorial would be available through the VSL homepage as well or at least if there would be a hint ...

    Heiko

  • Hey HeiPet,

thanks so much for finding out about that. This will be really good to find out more about the product.

    thanks again, and best,

    Steve[:D]

    Hi Steve

You arn't able to shift around anything but you have a lot of IRs which got an explanation like this:

Some of the Halls got a very huge amount of different IRs

    See here:

    http://www.beat-kaufmann.com/vi-tutorials/inspir/index.php

    (bottom of the page)

Unfortunately you only can read the complete information about the IRs after loading them into the SUITE Convolution reverb.

  • Hi Beat,

thanks so much for the extra info. The way you have used the IR's from this software sound really great!

I registered on the website and have the pdf now, and that has also been really helpful.

thanks again for your help and information here,
