    Hey folks...

    I demoed the Ozone set some while ago and would like to know what you think of the result:

    Universal Studios trailer music (0:25min, 0.5MB)

    What would you do differently on the mixing side? Libs are VSL     Opus 1, Epic Horns and some GTown percussion, effects Ozone and SIR + free Noisevault Lexicon and T600 demo impulse for reverb. I'm a bit unsure about getting Ozone, because I think it would take some more time for me to get used to it...

    The horn melody needs to be more distant. I would add EQ to remove highs and lows and perhaps more reverb or early reflections. The sample also sounded wrong to me, like it was something between a trumpet and a horn. The "bomp bomp" needs to be much heavier, more low strings and bass drum. Nice work, though. It's a challenge to mock up something we've all heard a hundred times.

    Actually I think the original is both, trupmet and horns, so I tried to do the same... it's just that the 3-trumpet VSL patch doesn't fit here too well, and even tho already taken back by a great amount, it's may be still the little different tunings that you notice there causing problems. I did add two instances of solo trumpet on top (legato and alternatives), maybe that's why it feels a bit too upfront too you, besides I tried not to overdo the reverb thing, Peter's impulse have a great long tail...

    Funny you mention the bass thing, as I'm listening to Van Helsing score right now which got me thinking if I even should add more whomp than already is there... yeah I missed out on the harp (too lazy for the many notes, hehe). Maybe I gotta work more on the hits.
